Ten commandments for a happier, more fulfilling life.

  • Balance your needs / wants & being able to recognize the differences.
  • If you want to be happier, you need to focus on the wants.
  • Control your dependence - feeds isolation, cynicism, and self absorption.
  • We seek reassurance from our social media. We need the validation. If you feed your brain dopamine all the time, then you become unhappy. If you’re spending your time on social media, you’re not building relationships.
  • Get your priorities clear and align your actions to them.
  • Always plan. You can’t have everything. You need to trade off to accomplish certain goals.
  • It’s not all about you - honor the room and circumstances.
  • Recognize those who helped you. If you want to be happy, give credit to other people.
  • Develop a health skepticism around what you know to be true.
  • If you want to build relationships with others who disagree, build a healthy skepticism with what you know to be true.
  • Seek first to understand.
  • Empathy. It’s so easy to unplug from other peoples situations and only view it from your view. Don’t be so quick to judge others.
  • Practice Gratitude for what you have.
  • If you don’t stop and think about what you are lucky to have, then you will forget what blessings you have.
  • Help other people - in little and big things.
  • How good am I at helping other people?
  • Get involved in at least one thing that is larger than yourself.
  • The benefits are as much for you as they are for the organization you’re helping.
  • Make relationships a priority - family and friends.
  • You can’t just text your friends a few times a year and keep the relationship alive. Stay committed to your relationships
